VYC is a non-profit organization registered as an association in 12 November 2002 which is active in the region of Vlora. It contributes in empowerment of community, especially youth, through implementation of education, awareness, and advocacy programs for the promotion of human rights, democracy, and voluntarism.
The “Improvement of Consulted and Participatory Budgeting Process” Project was implemented during 2019 by a consortium of local organizations, including: Vlora Youth Center, CSDC, New Epoch, YMD, AIIA, in five municipality (Vlore, Fier, Durres, Puke and Kamza), supported by OPC and financed by Sweden Government.
The main objective of the project was contributing to the improvement of consulted and participatory budgeting processes by increasing public awareness and knowledge of citizens and duty bearers, on the importance of direct participation in local decision-making. The project relied on a multi-sectorial approach and fulfilled the following outcomes: (1) Assessed current situation on PB implementation and provided input and recommendations to local authorities through an evaluation report in targeted Municipalities; (2) Created partnership and interaction with institutional partners; (3) Developed and consolidated a legal participatory budgeting model; (4) Built capacities of duty bearers, members of city councils and citizens organized groups, to implement the model of PB drafted by network.
