Photo Contest: “Gender and Climate Change through Civic Eyes”

Climate change impacts are not gender neutral. Women, men, and diverse groups experience climate risks differently due to their roles in society, access to resources, and decision-making power. Recognizing these differences is key to achieving climate justice and ensuring inclusive climate policies.

The Gender Budget Watchdog Network (GBWN) is organizing an international conference “Going Glocal 2.0: Sustainable Gender-Responsive Futures” focused on Gender-Responsive Budgeting and Climate Action Monitoring in Skopje, North Macedonia, from 10–11 December 2025. The event will bring together civil society organizations, policymakers, and experts from the Western Balkans, Moldova, and Central European Initiative (CEI) countries to address the intersection of gender equality and climate change.

As part of the conference, GBWN is launching a photo competition to capture diverse perspectives on gender and climate change through photography. Selected works will be exhibited during the conference and featured on GBWN’s online platforms.

Objectives of the call:

  • To spark public dialogue on the connections between climate change and gender equality.
  • To encourage creative expression as a way to communicate complex issues.
  • To amplify civil society, youth, and artists’ voices on climate justice.
  • To enrich the conference with artistic contributions alongside policy discussions.
