  • Short Description of Implemented Projects and Achieved Results

  • CRPD had a leading role in the campaign for the ratification of UN Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities (hereafter UNCRPD), that was ratified on 10 July 2010 by Moldovan Parliament. CRPD is actively involved in empowering and mobilizing PWD, in advocacy actions in order to ensure the rights of persons with disabilities and implementing legislation. In 2015 CRPD has elaborated the Alternative Report on the UN CRPD and in 2017 it was presented before UN CRPD Committee in Geneva. CRPD has also contributed to the establishment of the expert council to monitor the implementation of the UNCRPD alongside the National Ombudsman Office, consisting of 7 members: 3 men and 4 women. Currently, one of the main objectives is to ensure the accessibility of people with disabilities. In Chisinau, the capital of the Republic of Moldova, the streets have been equipped with tactile paving for the visually impaired and access ramps. Another area is the participation of the political and public life of women with disabilities. Thus, in many regions, women with disabilities have become activists in the field of women’s rights.
