But what really tells you what will happen next year is the budget. If\u00a0there\u2019s\u00a0no money\u00a0supporting the\u00a0commitment, it\u00a0will inevitably remain simply\u00a0a statement.\u00a0That\u2019s\u00a0why gender-responsive budgeting matters.\u00a0It\u2019s\u00a0not a\u00a0mantra\u00a0or a side-topic.\u00a0It\u2019s\u00a0a way of asking basic, practical questions: Who\u00a0benefits\u00a0from public spending? Who is left out? What gets funded and what keeps getting postponed?\u00a0Are budgets delivering for all women and girls? And these questions are relevant across the globe and asked by gender budget advocates.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">What took place in Nairobi?<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">On 19 January 2025,\u00a0a Memorandum of Cooperation\u00a0between CCGD Kenya and GBWN\u00a0was signed.\u00a0This is\u00a0an important step\u00a0as it\u00a0connects experience and energy across contexts,\u00a0Kenya\u2019s strong, locally rooted practice and GBWN\u2019s wider network approach.\u00a0It\u2019s\u00a0also a shared position: policy reform without funding is just a promise on paper.\u00a0CCGD has been around for decades, and the Kenyan Budget Network has built something valuable: a broad base of civil society, experts, and researchers who can look at budgets and talk about them in plain language.\u00a0That kind of work changes the conversation. Budgets stop being \u201cfor technocrats\u00a0and bureaucrats\u00a0only\u201d and start being something communities can question,\u00a0especially at\u00a0community\u00a0level, where services are felt directly.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">What does GBWN\u00a0bring,\u00a0and why does that have global weight?<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">GBWN\u2019s impact is simple: it helps turn GRB from an isolated exercise into a shared practice across places.\u00a0GRB approaches are replicable across regions, and the GBWN strategy of regionally working on research, evidence-based\u00a0analysis\u00a0and advocacy, the GBWN methods can be exported in East Africa.\u00a0Our methodologies for resilience and climate change financing monitoring using GRB tools are\u00a0very relevant\u00a0and needed to be transferred in Africa where climate change is most visible.\u00a0Together with CSOs from EAC, we can create a bigger\u00a0global impact\u00a0and\u00a0facilitate\u00a0SDG implementation beyond\u00a0the Western Balkans.\u00a0When\u00a0networks like ours, from\u00a0different countries,\u00a0compare notes, they raise the standard. In moments like this, the risk is that equality becomes \u201cnice to have\u201d and gets quietly dropped.\u00a0GRB pushes back against that. It says: show the choices\u00a0and the equality\u00a0results.\u00a0It also strengthens trust.
