{"id":17583,"date":"2025-06-17T16:13:58","date_gmt":"2025-06-17T14:13:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gbwn.net\/?p=17583"},"modified":"2025-07-04T09:49:56","modified_gmt":"2025-07-04T07:49:56","slug":"mff-synergies-with-egbn-and-ewl-for-united-for-gender-responsive-eu-budgets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gbwn.net\/en\/mff-synergies-with-egbn-and-ewl-for-united-for-gender-responsive-eu-budgets\/","title":{"rendered":"MFF Synergies with EGBN and EWL for United for Gender-Responsive EU Budgets!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"273\" data-end=\"536\"><span data-start=\"306\" data-end=\"350\">GBWN joined forces again with <\/span><strong data-start=\"306\" data-end=\"350\">European Gender Budgeting Network (EGBN)<\/strong> and <strong>European Women&#8217;s Lobby (EWL)<\/strong> to advocate for <strong data-start=\"456\" data-end=\"487\">gender-responsive budgeting<\/strong> across the European Union and beyond.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"538\" data-end=\"841\">At an energizing online meeting held last week, gender equality advocates, academics, and civil society representatives from across Europe expressed their shared determination to work together, <strong data-start=\"732\" data-end=\"756\">exchange experiences<\/strong>, and <strong data-start=\"762\" data-end=\"809\">demand more equitable and inclusive budgets<\/strong> at both EU and national levels.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"843\" data-end=\"931\">As a result of this renewed commitment, two important and strategic decisions were made:<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"938\" data-end=\"995\">1. \ud83d\udcc4 A Collective Call to the European Commission:<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"996\" data-end=\"1238\">The coalition will prepare and submit a <a href=\"https:\/\/gbwn.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Policy-Brief_Gender-responsive-MFF_2025.pdf\">policy brief on gender budgeting<\/a> to the European Commission, urging it to ensure that the next <strong data-start=\"1128\" data-end=\"1169\">Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF)<\/strong> \u2014 the EU\u2019s long-term budget \u2014 truly prioritizes gender equality.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1240\" data-end=\"1260\">The paper calls for:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1262\" data-end=\"1457\">\n<li data-start=\"1262\" data-end=\"1314\">\n<p data-start=\"1264\" data-end=\"1314\">\u2705 A <strong data-start=\"1268\" data-end=\"1284\">clear target<\/strong> for financing gender equality<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1315\" data-end=\"1388\">\n<p data-start=\"1317\" data-end=\"1388\">\u2705 <strong data-start=\"1319\" data-end=\"1356\">Gender-responsive budgeting (GRB)<\/strong> across all EU-funded programmes<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1389\" data-end=\"1457\">\n<p data-start=\"1391\" data-end=\"1457\">\u2705 <strong data-start=\"1393\" data-end=\"1446\">Improved monitoring, evaluation, and transparency<\/strong> of results<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1606\" data-end=\"1769\">\ud83d\udc49 <strong data-start=\"1609\" data-end=\"1639\">Want to join the movement?<\/strong><br data-start=\"1639\" data-end=\"1642\" \/>Read the statement and sign as a CSO or individual:<br data-start=\"1726\" data-end=\"1729\" \/>\ud83d\udd17 <a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/lnkd.in\/dBMdUvd3\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener\" data-start=\"1732\" data-end=\"1769\">Sign here<\/a><\/p>\n<hr data-start=\"1771\" data-end=\"1774\" \/>\n<h3 data-start=\"1776\" data-end=\"1863\">2. \ud83d\udcc5 Save the Dates for two important events<\/h3>\n<h3 data-start=\"1864\" data-end=\"2157\"><strong>GBWN Forum on Gender Responsive Budgeting and Climate Change &#8211; TBD November 2025, Skopje Macedonia<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The Gender Budget Watchdog Network (GBWN) will be organizing a high-level <strong data-start=\"261\" data-end=\"320\">Forum on Gender-Responsive Budgeting and Climate Change<\/strong>, bringing together civil society, policymakers, researchers, and international partners to explore how public budgets can become more inclusive, transparent, and effective in responding to the climate crisis. The forum will highlight innovative practices, share lessons across regions, and strengthen advocacy for gender-just climate finance at local, national, and global levels.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1776\" data-end=\"1863\">European Conference on Gender Budgeting \u2013 Cyprus, March 2026<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1864\" data-end=\"2157\">EGBN announced the organization of a <strong data-start=\"1906\" data-end=\"1949\">European Conference on Gender Budgeting<\/strong>, scheduled for <strong data-start=\"1965\" data-end=\"1986\">March 27\u201328, 2026<\/strong>, <strong>in Cyprus<\/strong>. The timing is strategic \u2014 it will coincide with the ECOFIN meeting of EU Finance Ministers, taking place during Cyprus\u2019s Presidency of the EU Council. This conference will be a unique opportunity to bring together policymakers, civil society, and experts to advocate for transparent, inclusive, and equitable budgeting policies in Europe. It will also showcase the growing momentum of the gender budgeting movement across the continent.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1864\" data-end=\"2157\">We are deeply encouraged by this renewed energy and commitment across Europe. It is inspiring to see so many experts, practitioners, and organizations uniting around a common goal: to ensure that public budgets serve all people equally.
