{"id":14037,"date":"2024-10-16T15:59:36","date_gmt":"2024-10-16T13:59:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gbwn.net\/?p=14037"},"modified":"2025-04-10T14:19:25","modified_gmt":"2025-04-10T12:19:25","slug":"webinar-addressing-gender-based-violence-in-public-spaces-and-transport-systems","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gbwn.net\/en\/webinar-addressing-gender-based-violence-in-public-spaces-and-transport-systems\/","title":{"rendered":"Webinar: Addressing Gender-Based Violence in Public Spaces and Transport Systems"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We joined forces with the <span data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\">CEE\u00a0<\/span>Bankwatch Network to organize the webinar &#8220;<em>Addressing Gender-Based Violence in Public Spaces and Transport Systems<\/em>&#8221; that took place on 8th of October 2024.<\/p>\n<p>The Program Coordinator of our Gender Budget Watchdog Network <a id=\"ember2875\" class=\"ember-view\" href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/ivana-petriskova\/\">Ivana Petriskov\u00e1<\/a>, presented key findings from our research on gender-responsive and sustainable solutions to enhance public financing for inclusive, safe, and environmentally responsible transport systems. <span data-scheme-color=\"@000000,,\" data-usefontface=\"true\" data-contrast=\"none\">The aim of this research is to identify climate- and gender-responsive policy options <\/span><span data-scheme-color=\"@000000,,\" data-usefontface=\"true\" data-contrast=\"none\">for improving diverse women and men\u2019s access to public transport.<\/span> The research is based on identification of current needs, interests and commuting practices of women and men. <span data-scheme-color=\"@000000,,\" data-usefontface=\"true\" data-contrast=\"none\">The gender-based analysis covers transportation habits, accessibility, safety <\/span><span data-scheme-color=\"@000000,,\" data-usefontface=\"true\" data-contrast=\"none\">perceptions, and affordability across various Balkan countries, including <\/span>Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, and Serbia.\u200b<\/p>\n<p>The expert panel, consisting of researchers and civil society representatives, shed light on the often overlooked issue of gender-based violence in public spaces. This challenge is particularly prevalent in cities across the Western Balkans, South Caucasus, and beyond. The discussion underscored how these spaces\u2014where incidents frequently go unreported\u2014demand greater attention and action.<\/p>\n<p>Key Takeaways: To improve safety, inclusivity, and sustainability in public transport, we must implement best practices and policy options.
